Girls 2.0: Vee Frankly

September 8th, 2006 · 3 Comments

Girls will rule the new web - I’ve claimed this a while ago. I promised to come up with some real data to support this idea, but haven’t had time to do serious research. In the meantime, I am just going to point to outstanding female bloggers. At some point I might have enough anecdotes to call it “data”.
Part I: Vee Frankly and her blog VashionFictim. Even though it’s written in German, also non-german speakers should check it out. As the name indicates, it’s about fashion - but forget about the ways in which fashion is usually covered in the mass media, this one is really fashion 2.0.
Vee is a 24 year old journalism student in Munich, Germany, who is going to shoot daily pictures of her outfit and post them on her blog, along with some info about where she got the stuff from and why she thinks it’s cool. She explicitly encourages reader participation and hopes to see some good discussions evolve around lifestyle, trends & fashion.
I think this is much cooler than Vogue, Elle or Style. This is really what fashion is about.
