Just a short hint for users of the German Facebookclone StudiVZ: Yesterday the team around StudiVZ posted a “call for songs” on each user’s page. Users are encouraged to produce a StudiVZ fan song and send it to their team. Nice idea, but watch out for the fine print (German):

7. Sämtliche Informationen und Einsendungen, die in Zusammenarbeit mit der Teilnahme an diesem Wettbewerb angeboten, übertragen oder eingesendet werden, gelten als nicht vertraulich. Insbesondere werden mit der Einsendung sämtliche Eigentums-, Nutzungs-, Gebrauchs- und Urheberrechte der Werke (Ton- und Filmmaterialien; Lieder, Melodien, Videos, Bilder usw.) vollständig an StudiVZ übertragen.

Bottom line: If you submit a video, you no longer own the song, but StudiVZ does.
